American singer Jon Bon Jovi has earned praise after a video of him helping a woman standing precariously on the ledge of a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, was uploaded online.
The video, posted by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on YouTube, showed the 62-year-old rock star and his team at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on the night of Sept 10.
He appeared to be in Nashville shooting a music video on the bridge, BBC reported.
In the video posted by the police, the woman can be seen holding on to the railing, while standing on the ledge over the Cumberland River.
Bon Jovi is seen approaching the woman and waving at her. She waves back.
He then stops a short distance from her and leans against the railing, appearing to engage her in conversation. He and another woman then help her to safety.
Both continue to talk to the woman, and Bon Jovi later gives her a hug. Shortly after, they are seen leaving together.
In a Facebook post, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department thanked the It’s My Life (2000) singer and his team for their help.
“Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety,” wrote police chief John Drake. “It takes all of us to help keep one another safe.”
Commenters on the post praised Bon Jovi for his actions.
“It takes a good man to see a person in need,” one commenter wrote. “Others passed by. Not you and your people!”
